At The West Side Commons, we recognize the power of community and the critical role of parental engagement in advancing educational equity. Our work is rooted in the belief that every student deserves an educational experience that is not only academically enriching but also culturally affirming and emotionally supportive. It requires the commitment of the entire school community—teachers, leaders, parents, and students themselves. We will publish this weekly newsletter as one source of important information and resources that support quality education for all.

Oluwatoyin “Toyin” Omilabu – Partnerships Coordinator I am a first-generation Nigerian American who was born and raised in New York. I am passionate about the life-changing power of education, social justice, and outreach. Outside of work, you can find me singing (probably something from a Broadway musical or 90’s R&B) or reading the latest fantasy novel.

Jasmine Byrd – Sustainability Coordinator I am a passionate social justice advocate who has been an educator for the past ten years. My background is in supporting multilingual students and students with disabilities, visual arts, and organizational change.

Ronan McGuire – Community Engagement Coordinator I am dedicated to listening and being proactive about the needs of the community at large. I have worked on political campaigns and in the public relations world for years, and I hope to bring my skillset to a meaningful cause at The West Side Commons. Outside of work, I enjoy listening to music and writing poetry.
